Enjoy the last weeks of summer with this refreshing and unique Rosewater Lemonade . Sweetened with agave nectar and maple syrup and with beautiful floral notes.

With the summer light beginning to wane, many of our friends are preparing the last weekend getaways of their summer vacation.  You may be planning your own trip, too!  For those of you staying local, we'll show you a great way to enhance your stay-cation and bring a sabor exotico – a bit of the exotic – to one of summer’s most humble and iconic beverages by mixing up a delicious batch of Rosewater Lemonade.

Our Rosewater Lemonade is sweetened with agave nectar and maple syrup for a thirst-quencher that you won’t find at any neighborhood stand.  You’ll love the aromatic blend of this intoxicating drink – the clean crisp scent of lemon is softened by a hint of floral that feels more Casbah than Connecticut.  Best yet, it is a perfect accompaniment to a savory snack like our Red Pepper & Harissa Hummus With Grilled Flatbread, as well as desserts like a plate piled high with our delicious Chewy Almond Cookies.

Prized for its taste, perfume, and healing properties, rose water was first developed in ancient Persia where it grew as a popular flavoring in Mediterranean desserts like baklava, cookies, nougats, and marzipan.  Today, you can find many commercial brands of rose water in specialty and Middle Eastern markets including the popular Sadaf and Cortas products, new small-batch preparations, and even a Sirup de Monin in rose flavor.

Rose water is created by distilling rose petals and water, and although light, has wonderful anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and mood-boosting (aromatherapy) properties that make it a delightful addition to your summer drink list.

Want a gorgeous presentation that will wow a crowd at formal meal, brunch, or bridal celebration?  Prepare a batch of Rosewater Lemonade in your most beautiful crystal pitcher, fill with ice, sliced lemon, and a handful of crushed edible flowers (you can even add a splash of vodka for the adults in the room!)

Delicious! The last time I made it I cut back on the water about 1/4 cup simply because I couldn’t find my pitcher and the container I had only held that much and liked it a little more! The first couple times I made it according to recipe above and it was amazing too! I LOVE rose water!
