This balsamic dressing is the perfect complement to all kinds of healthy dishes. Our homemade balsamic vinaigrette gives any meal a bright burst of tartness while adding plenty of flavor and creaminess.

Our recipe is as simple as it gets with just a few high-quality ingredients that come together beautifully in a single jar! This is the perfect complement to all kinds of dishes, as you'll see below.
Balsamic Dressing Ingredients
For this balsamic vinaigrette recipe, it's important that you use only the best quality ingredients. Even though this is a minimalistic dish with just a few components, each one has its own distinct flavor and should be high-quality in order to produce an excellent taste.
Here's what you'll need:
- Extra virgin olive oil - A good olive oil will add the creaminess, richness, and fat that makes this dressing so satisfying and tasty.
- Mustard - We make this recipe with three different types of mustard to add more depth of flavor. Three may sound like much, but between the texture from the whole grain mustard, the smoothness and mustard flavor from the brown mustard, and sweetness from the honey mustard, this balsamic vinaigrette really comes together. As an alternative, use brown or whole-grain mustard for dijon but be warned- it will not taste the same.
- Balsamic vinegar - This adds a tartness that really pulls all of the flavors together, creating a rich and acidic vinaigrette. We like our salad dressing tart, so we use a higher ratio of acid to fat. However, if you prefer a sweeter dressing, you could use balsamic glaze instead for the added sweetness. Note that doing so might also make the dressing a little thicker.
- Lemon juice - Use freshly squeezed if possible for the best flavor.
If you are looking for an alternative to mustard in this dressing recipe you could try swapping it out with mayonnaise or greek yogurt to maintain that richness. However, we encourage you to give our zesty, creamy mustard version a try—you'll be pleasantly surprised!
How To Make Creamy Balsamic Dressing
Making this balsamic vinegar dressing is very simple. The easiest way is to put all the ingredients into a glass jar and seal it with a lid. Then, shake the jar until all the ingredients are well combined.
If you don't have a jar, there is another option. Combine the three mustards in a bowl. Then, pour in the olive oil and whisk until creamy. Lastly, add in the lemon juice and balsamic vinegar, whisking until combined.
You could also use a blender to completely emulsify all of the ingredients if you are short on time.
Balsamic Salad Dressing Serving Ideas
This balsamic vinaigrette is a very versatile dressing that you can add to a variety of dishes. It pairs well with roasted vegetables, pasta salad, rice salad, drizzled over fresh tomatoes, a fresh vegetable salad, or our Spinach Strawberry Salad.
Of course, you can use this as a balsamic vinegar salad dressing mixed with your favorite greens and veggies too.
This is the perfect tangy dressing to ad to all kinds of food to give it extra flavor and a touch of acidity.
How To Store Balsamic Vinaigrette
If you want to make this dressing ahead of time or use it in your weekly meal prep, you can store it in the fridge in a sealed container. This recipe will last for 7-10 days, refrigerated in an airtight container.
You may need to give it a good shake before using it if the ingredients have separated at all.
To keep your food fresh, only add this dressing once you are ready to eat your meals.
