guilt free chocolate truffles

This weekend, we celebrated “May I have that recipe” ‘s  first anniversary. It’s hard to believe that exactly one year ago, we shared our very first recipe with all of you!

We are very fortunate to be able to do something we love and we have enjoyed every minute of it. The love and support we have received from friends, families and new followers is truly overwhelming and we thank all of you, from the bottom of our hearts.

We are very excited about the year ahead and looking forward to sharing many more recipes!

These truffles are creamy, chocolaty and decadent... and about 55 calories each!
Recipe type: Dessert
Cuisine: International
Serves: About 8 truffles
  • ½ cup good quality chocolate chips (we use Ghirardelli 60% Cacao)

  • ⅓ cup good quality unsweetened cocoa powder (we use Ghirardelli Unsweetened Cocoa Powder)
  1. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave (at 20 second intervals) or on a double boiler
  2. While the chocolate is still warm, stir in almond butter and mix until well incorporated

These are fabulous and so easy to make…I added a little variation to the recipe the balls were rolled in, some cinnamon, some nutmeg…and I used cacao powder, I also did a small batch that had maca mixed with the cacao intermixed (those were so frothy). The chocolate pieces that I used are carob,,so with this I added some rice syrup to make it a little sweeter. Yummy. I had been wondering what I could make all week with the carob pieces that I picked up from the store and this recipe came to me via spiritual experience’s. Timing is everything in this Universe..I love you guys…thank you so much..much love peace and light..

    • Vicky & Ruth December 9, 2014 at 5:57 pm #

These freeze well and will stay fresh for about a month. Just make sure you use a good freezer bag. They’ll stay fresh in the fridge for 4-5 days. Hope this helps!

      1.1g protein

  12. Christina February 12, 2015 at 9:56 pm #

Hi! I cannot WAIT to make these this weekend. Did you use plain Greek yogurt, or will this work with vanilla, honey, etc? Thank you!

  13. Lisa February 19, 2015 at 12:48 pm #

What a lovely recipe and so easy to make. For those following Weight Watchers … it would be 2 points plus per truffle. THANKS!

    • Vicky & Ruth February 23, 2015 at 8:57 am #

Thank you very much for the information Lisa. It’s always good to know you can eat our truffles even following Weight Watchers.

These are delicious and so easy to make! I eat a few everyday and I think they’ve actually gotten better with age (I’m talking 3 days old, nothing gross). They’re not as sickeningly sweet as regularly truffles but sweet enough to hit the spot without feeling guilty. Love them!

  17. CJ May 14, 2015 at 11:14 am #

Hi. Reading this from the bush of Zambia 🙂 Our closest grocery store has plain regular yogurt but not Greek. Do you think that would work or does it have to be Greek? Hoping to try these and have the other ingredients. Thanks!

    • Vicky & Ruth May 14, 2015 at 12:51 pm #

      Hi there!
If you can’t find Greek yogurt, something like fat free or light sour cream might work instead. Regular yogurt might be to liquid and migt prevent the truffles from forming properly. Hope this helps!

  18. N May 14, 2015 at 6:17 pm #

Will the recipe work just as well if I use greek yogurt with fat?

  19. Lauren A. August 5, 2015 at 9:39 pm #

    This recipe is delightfully dark!

  20. nell February 6, 2016 at 3:07 pm #

I see no sweetener of ani kind. Are thei sweet just like that or more dark chocolate bitter tasting? Would u suggest adding a sweetener?

    • Vicky & Ruth February 6, 2016 at 6:41 pm #

The chocolate chips are sweetened, but if you want your truffles sweeter you can add sugar if you want. The calorie count will be higher.

  21. Megan February 28, 2016 at 1:34 pm #

Just made these. YUM! I love chocolate truffles (normally the very fattening ones), but these are amazing! I will definitely be making them again. Thanks!

    • Vicky & Ruth February 29, 2016 at 10:44 am #

Great ! Thank you Megan for taking the time to let us know. We loved them too.

  22. Julie Bosgra March 13, 2016 at 6:56 pm #

These are tasty but quantity did not make anywhere near 12 truffles – 6 at best and they were not full tablespoons!

    • Vicky & Ruth April 1, 2016 at 6:44 pm #

Sorry about the delayed response. We just re tested the recipe several times. You are right, the recipe did not yield 12 truffles, but we did get 8, full tablespoons. Sorry about the mistake, hope you still enjoyed them!

I lost track of this recipe, but I’m so glad I found it again! I made it on Father’s Day for my dad a few years ago.
