Vegan Beer & Sweet Onion Gravy
- Total Time: 1 hour
- Yield: 3 cups 1x
Ingredients

- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 medium size onions, grated
- ยฝ tbsp brown sugar
- ยฝ tbsp herbes de Provence
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ยผ to ยฝ teaspoon salt ( or to taste)
- ยผ tsp black pepper
- 2 cups vegetable or "no chicken" broth
- 12oz light beer or white wine
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- In a large soup pot, heat olive oil. Add grated onions, brown sugar, herbes de Provence, smoked paprika, salt and black pepper. cook at medium heat for 15 minutes
- Add broth and beer. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes
- Remove from heat. Strain sauce using a small mesh colander and return strained sauce to heat
- In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water. Pour into the sauce, stirring constantly. Bring to a quick boil, reduce heat, and cook for 1-2 minutes until it thickens
- Prep Time: 5 mins
- Cook Time: 55 mins
