Cheese Stuffed French Toast : Rich, Decadent special breakfast

French toast is a brunch / weekend breakfast staple that pretty much everyone loves. And since we are always trying to find ways to change up conventional recipes (especially when they can add some spice to our morning routines!), creating a new take on the traditional French toast was a must! Making French toast with Challah isn't a new concept. It's sweet, it's buttery and it's decadent. What could we do to improve or tweak the flavor into something more interesting, something more exotic?  After sampling more bites of Challah French toast than was probably necessary to make a decision, we found the perfect way to elevate this already delicious dish . We think you’ll love what we came up with!

Enter Sincerely Brigitte’s orange ginger cheese. First of all, what a combination!  (Warning: if you’re a cheese lover it might be difficult to save this blend for the French toast, so plan to make it soon!) – The orange and ginger flavors combine beautifully, and the mellowness of the cheese itself allows it to blend with the Challah and French toast flavors, making it a sweet and savory recipe you’re sure to make again and again.

Enjoy!!

Scale
  • 2-1 inch thick slices challah bread
  • 2 ounces Sincerely Brigitte Orange Ginger Cheese, cut into about 10 slices
  • 4 tsp orange marmalade
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Zest of one orange
  • ½ tsp butter
  • Garnish (optional):
  • Maple syrup
  • Blood orange

Instructions

  1. Make a little pocket on each challah slice, cutting down the middle but making sure you don't cut all the way through.
  2. Spread 1 teaspoon of marmalade on each side of the slit. Arrange 5 slices of cheese inside
  3. Whisk milk, egg, sugar and orange zest in a wide bowl. Carefully soak bread slices on both sides
  4. Heat butter on a large, non stick skillet. Cook about 6-7 minutes per side on medium low or until golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve hot with maple syrup and fresh blood orange
