Tofu fries are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional French fries. Made from extra firm tofu, they are a great source of plant-based protein, they are vegan and gluten-free.
How to Make Tofu Fries
Tofu fries are a great option when you want to add more protein to a meal. We made ours by dusting the tofu with garbanzo bean flour and spices to give it a kick of flavor, before pan-frying them to perfection. Of course, fries of any kind would be incomplete if they didn’t have a dip or sauce to accompany them! That’s why this recipe has two parts.
Our accompaniment of choice is an avocado crema. Lovers of avocado rejoice! Made with lemon and non-dairy yogurt, it was created to complement the flavor of garbanzo beans and spices. The healthy fats add as much to the dish as the smooth texture and subtle flavor.
Tofu Fries Variations
One of the best things about tofu fries is their versatility. They can be seasoned with a variety of spices and herbs to suit any taste. For a classic French fry flavor, try seasoning with garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper or chili powder. You can also experiment with different herbs like rosemary, thyme, or basil. Do you want to take an international tour? Season your fries with Shawarma seasoning, Garam Masala, or Jamaican Jerk Seasoning.
What to Serve With Tofu Fries
Tofu fries are a great addition to any meal. They are delicious with veggie burgers, sandwiches, and salads. They also make a great snack on their own, especially when served with dipping sauces like Schug, Matbucha, or Romesco.
If you're looking for a healthier alternative to traditional French fries, give tofu fries a try. They are easy to make and a delicious way to incorporate more plant-based protein into your diet.
