Ingredients
Scale
- 3" piece of fresh ginger. Peeled and sliced thin
- 6 fresh turmeric roots of about 1" each. Washed, peeled, and sliced thin.
- 10 whole peppercorns
- 6 cups of water
- 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice or more to taste
- 3 tbsp honey, more or less to taste
Instructions
- In a saucepan add ginger, turmeric, peppercorns, and water
- Bring everything to a boil lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes
- Add lemon and honey and serve hot
Notes
- The easiest way to peel fresh ginger and turmeric is by using a small spoon to scrape the skin off
- Slice fresh ginger and turmeric with a sharp knife
- Fresh turmeric root will stain surfaces and your hands. We recommend using gloves and covering your working surface with plastic wrap or parchment paper
- Store leftover turmeric ginger tea in a glass jar and heat as needed.
